Even though this book didn't have some of the newer helicopters I was interested in, it is still a good book. The book was Copyrighted in 1984 and is a great representation of helicopters prior to that time. I knocked off one star because the author uses some charts that I found of no use and there is color drawings of many helicopters but a lack of actual color photographs. Don't let that stop you from buying this book, it is chalked full of good information for someone wanting to learn about the history of the whirly bird from start to 1984. Now it would be nice to have a version from 1984 to current.
The entire family enjoys this wonderful book.

My grandson loves this book and wore out the his first copy. He received it at about age four and now he's thirteen.
I purchased this for my young son who is obsessed with helicopters. Tons of pictures and the descriptions are quite detailed.
It did meet my expectations. Learned more info about other builders.
Simply a great reference book! Lots of illustrations with color plates, three-view drawings, technical specifications, performance data and a brief history of each aircraft. It is divided up into historical sections and covers virtually every nation that has build a helicopter, auto-gyro or VTOL aircraft. I use it for model building, model making and for our new model kit lines. The drawings are accurate and are a great source to confirm or dispute model kits and preparation for making them. I have yet to find a better source as this for helicopters and VTOL craft. Of the highest quality as only Italy can produce!
